Great Gift for the Cat Lover! Handmade 8ounce Pottery Mug in Orange with Black and White Tuxedo Cat



A black and white tuxedo cat reclines around my hand thrown red earthenware mug.

Kitty has bright green eyes, white paws and bib and chin. He sets on a background of orange with coral red swirls. Inside is glazed creamy white with a surprise black mouse at the bottom, to be seen when you have drank all your milk. :)

The mug measures 4" x 2 7/8" (10 cm x 7.5 cm) and holds approximately 8 liquid ounces.


Glazed using a non-toxic maiolica glaze - the mug is food safe and can be put in the microwave for quick warm ups.


Handmade in Makanda, IL, using an electric wheel or a slab roller. The Artist uses a traditional red earthenware clay for non-toxic Maiolica glazes. Bottoms are trimmed to create a foot ring and are signed and dated. Pieces can be used in the microwave for quick warm ups (unless noted) and top rack of the dishwasher (unless noted).

As with all hand crafted pottery the coloring and size will vary from piece to piece, making each piece a one-of-a-kind. The Artists: Our artist, Karen, has been creating functional pottery for about 15 years, starting with a few classes in ceramics on the advice of a good friend who informed me “Since I work at the university, take real classes for free, instead of a craft shop class”. Thus started my journey in clay. I fell in love with the process, bought a wheel, paid off the truck and quit my job to pursue a life of art.
